My campaign was in the works. I started out just at my elementary school as an assistant for character education classes. I gave a speech and had a handfull of celebrity video messages to play. I kicked the whole thing off with blue shirt day and ended it with a themed dress week.
My campaign grew much bigger. I had a seperate speech for elementary and a speech for middle and high school based on interest levels. I had several schools to talk to, was running the character education classes, was running an essay contest, and had partnered with several buisness. I had more videos and once again I started it with blue shirt day and ended it with a themed dress week.
My campaign continued to grow. I added two more schools to the schools that I visited. I also Skyped with a 4th and 5th grade class in Canada. I continued with my character education classes and my essay contest. This year I got the author of the book used for the essay contest involved in it all. I formed an official partnership with San Antonio FC, the local professional soccer team. Goalkeeper Matt Cardone and forward Alex Bruce came out to one of the schools with me and helped kick it all off with a rally. Defender Cyprian Hedrick joined me in teaching a PreK character education class. The biggest thing that happened was that I met with Mayor Ron Nirenberg, and got an official proclamation signed stating that the city of San Antonio officially recognized October as Bullying Prevention month. Word of my campaign spread, as I worked with Kens5 three different times! I also got to be a guest blogger for a company based out of New Jersey that created an app for anonoymously reporting bullying in schools and in the workplace.
This year I had the opportunity to form an awesome partnership with Scooped Cookie Dough Bar. It was a lot of fun, as I got to create my own flavor of cookie dough - Kindness Dough, that they sold the entire Bullying Prevention month, along with my bracelets. They helped raise a lot of awareness, along with funds for books and other supplies for my program. I worked with 8 schools this year, including a large elementary!
While this was a quiet year due to COVID, I was still able to work with a couple of schools through virtual visits. I also expanded my library quite a bit for working with students of all ages.
